Nearly two dozen local kindergarteners made a special Valentine’s Day visit to senior citizens at the Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Center (Covello) in East Harlem. The children from St. Ann school chatted with the seniors, snacked on delicious chocolates, and passed out handmade Valentine’s Day cards.

William J. Dionne, executive director of the Carter Burden Network, said, “Bringing the young and older generations together is one important way that the Carter Burden Network fights isolations among our seniors. It’s a win-win for all! The children learn valuable lessons from these older and wiser New Yorkers, while our clients delight in their handmade cards and the chance to share stories and experiences with these wonderful students. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the students and teachers at St. Ann for making this Valentine’s Day a very special day filled will love.”

A leader in aging services, the Carter Burden Network promotes the well being of seniors, 60 and older, through a continuum of services, advocacy, arts and culture and volunteer programs in New York City.
