In Madrid, August is the last month for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid under the direction of Charo Izquierdo. During the past three years, Izquierdo has changed the way MBFW Madrid was run. By simply shifting the dates, she has brought in a larger group of international press, and has moved the fashion week presentations in a new direction.

In New York City, The Museum at FIT will feature the exhibit, “Paris, Capital of Fashion,” from Sept. 6, 2019 to Jan. 4, 2020. Paris, France is widely known as having the most glamorous fashion industry. However, how and why Paris acquired this reputation will be part of the subject of this exhibit. Curated by Dr. Valerie Steel, this is the first exhibition to explore the cultural construction of Paris. It will examine fashion designs that date back from the 18th century to present. Admission is free.
