Oxford Fashion Studio recently premiered 16 diverse designers’ collections during SS ’20 Paris Fashion Week at the International Le Grand Hotel. The company highlights independent fashion designers from all over the world, giving emerging designers a platform to showcase their work. Ranging from eveningwear to swimwear for men and women, these world-class designers created beautifully designed clothes that were elegantly presented. The audience was breathless.
There were seven amazing designers featured from the United States. Tom Fooley showed a colorful, pretty sustainable line that was inspired by the people of Kenya. Carlous Palmer XSLANT’s mix of men’s and women’s pieces had a futuristic and urban flair. Inspired by ancient Egypt, this collection received applause when selected pieces were transformed into completely different silhouettes on the runway. Couture by Hong Hoa presented a collection that was inspired by the traditional Vietnamese garment, a tight-fitting tunic over matching trousers. Allison Nicole Designs captured her true signature in a SS ’20 collection of sumptuous gowns and custom, classic designs. Her soft pinks and lavender and yellow gowns were embellished with beading, embroidery, tulle and ruffle details. Gessica created an “Art of War” collection of militant styles, reflective of the Paris terror attacks of 2015. Korsbar offered an incredible collection with softly draped styles influenced by Turkish culture and textiles, with shimmering floral prints in luxe silhouettes.
From Mexico, designer Jorge Salazar’s collection called “Georgina” featured sumptuous suits, separates and evening dresses. His colors included red, violet, green, yellow, white and aqua.
From the Dominican Republic, the brand Tirsana was designed by Anna Beato. Her handmade crocheted beachwear was cool and sexy.
From Spain, Fashion Fairies delivered elegant looks. Influenced by flamenco, their silhouettes flowed in flute shapes with intricate, dimensional details. The look was vintage with a modern flare. From Switzerland, accessories designer Lyne Julie accented clothes with luxurious leather handbags in brown, blue, gray and black for men and women. Her small bags were sporty. The sophisticated satchels were travel-worthy. Ecuadorian label Lula Martinez Moda’s collection was feminine and full of enviable work-wear. There were smart separates, flirty dresses, flowy pants (some cropped). Her highlighted pieces included plaid suit looks with cleverly sewn-in pocket bags.
Aspect Dore, from Saudi Arabia, presented a modern woman’s collection of sheer dresses with puffy sleeves in iridescent fabrics. Iranian designer Mahnaz Primoradi focused on sculptural shapes with an asymmetrical balance. Australian designer Ally Brenner Designs offered an eight-piece collection. A tuxedo-inspired pantsuit had shimmer striped down the side and was topped with a feathery shirt and black vest. From Israel, designer Kathy Issa Haute Couture featured a golden dynasty collection that was inspired by pharaohs. There were flapper-inspired gowns, a swinging pair of metallic tap shorts and a jumpsuit with a bold,
structural shoulder.
From Paraguay, Avelina De Maier is best known for her bridal and pageant gowns. For her SS ’20 collection, she channeled old-world glamour and royalty. Her best dress was a floral-printed, wrapped, pleated, one-shoulder satin gown. It was absolutely gorgeous, and
a showstopper.
