Exasperated by Trump’s dalliance and dysfunctional handling of the COVID-19, especially his push to use a drug not approved by FDA or medical experts, State Rep. Tavia Galonski of Ohio (D) tweeted on Sunday that she will be referring Trump to the International Criminal Court for “crimes against humanity.”

“I can’t take it anymore,” Galonski tweeted. “I’ve been to the Hague. I’m making a referral for crimes against humanity tomorrow,” she said on Sunday. “I know the need for a prosecution referral when I see one.”

Her outrage stems mainly from Trump’s promotion of hydroxychloroquine, a drug mainly used to treat malaria, in the fight against COVID-19. Several doctors say its effectiveness is still under debate. Even Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudolf Giuliani has stated that doctors “not national bureaucracy should decide whether to use” the drug.

Meanwhile, the number of deaths from the coronavirus went past the 10,300 mark for the nation, with New York continuing as the epicenter. The past week saw an increase that doubled the 500-a-day count. Moreover, the U.S. leads the world in the number of known cases.

In taking her complaint to The Hague, Galonski is bringing the matter to the International Criminal Court that has 123 state parties but not the U.S. It’s yet to be seen how far her charge will go, though it certainly has caused quite a ripple among Trump dissenters. One alternative for her referral is that it can be taken up by the U.N. Security Council who can refer the matter for investigation.

Asked by Fox News if she has a specific crime in her accusation against Trump, she had no immediate response.

When it comes to the use of the hydroxychloroquine, Galonski is not alone among those concerned about it. There is a coterie of health officials and medical experts who believe the medicine has not been properly vetted and could cause serious side effects.

“I am no doctor,” Trump said at a recent press conference, which may be among the first truth he has uttered in years. Even so, he mitigated that by stating “I do have common sense.” And he added, what harm could the drug do, “What do you have to lose?”

Possibly your life, according to several experts.
