According to published reports since the beginning of March 2020, there have been over 200,000 deaths worldwide caused by the novel coronavirus crisis. Fifty six thousand of those have been in America. New York State has a reported 16,000 plus, and New York City has seen over 5,000 deaths.

Every day the news delivers more statistics, as nations try to “flatten the curve.”

Funerals and services have changed, but every day, families now have to plan how to say goodbye to their loved ones prematurely.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the Nation of Islam honored Minister Hafeez Muhammad, 56, at Mosque No. 7, and at Unity Funeral Home in Harlem, New York.

Minister Louis Farrakhan’s eastern regional minister and representative died on Saturday, April 11, 2020, from COVID complications.

Also in Harlem, Rev. Dr. Johnnie Green, Jr., senior pastor at Mount Neboh Baptist Church, acknowledged that with recently losing 11members, the house of worship was one of the hardest hit during this coronavirus pandemic. These are sad and strange times. The uncertainty is terrible, but the definite sense of community is encouraging. There have been so many deaths, but as of press time, with 3,004,887 cases globally, there have also been over 882,909 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
