New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared a full snow day for all New York City public schools this Monday in anticipation of an approaching blizzard.

Mayor Mamdani made the announcement Sunday via social media. Under a “full snow day” designation, students are not required to attend school in person, and remote learning will not be implemented.

A blizzard warning for New York City went into effect at 1 p.m. Sunday, with the storm expected to dump up to two feet of snow in some areas. The heaviest snowfall is projected to occur between 10 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday, with snowfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour and higher localized bursts likely. Officials are strongly advising residents to stay off the roads.
