Come out this Sunday, Sept. 25 and join hundreds of Harlemites and health professionals for the sixth annual Health Walk & Fair, sponsored by the Communities of Harlem Health Revival (CHHR).
Here’s a great opportunity to learn more about taking care of your most precious resource-your health. CHHR is committed to helping Harlem stamp out obesity and related illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and get on the road to a fit and healthy lifestyle with this comprehensive health fair. CHHR’s mission is to motivate the community to adopt a healthier lifestyle and provide the tools and information to make it happen.
The festival includes games, entertainment and complimentary health screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and breast health. This year’s event features the CHHR Dr. Muriel Petioni Walk for Prevention & Health, named in honor of Harlem’s own “Mother of Medicine.” The walk begins at 2 p.m. at 127th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, walking up Seventh Avenue and over to the Jackie Robinson Park at 145th Street. Entertainment and health screenings will begin in the park at 1 p.m.
Participating health partners include Harlem Hospital, Mount Sinai, United Healthcare Community Plan, Community Healthcare Network, NYC Health and Uptown Health Link.
This event is funded in part by Council Member Inez Dickens and the New York City Council. For more information and to register, visit www.chhrinfo.org or email CHHRinfo@gmail.com.
