David N. Dinkins (29187)

Former New York City Mayor David Dinkins was recently hospitalized with pneumonia and is expected to be released at the end of the week. Peter Johnson Jr., Dinkins’ law parter and adviser, confirmed the condition of the city’s first African-American mayor, who served one term in the 1990s.

Reports indicate that Dinkins is doing better and is walking the halls of New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he is staying, reading the newspaper, watching the news and signing paperwork. The 86-year-old Democratic mayor was admitted to the hospital on Oct. 30. He currently teaches at Columbia University.
