“You are what you eat,” “Real food doesn’t have ingredients; real food is ingredients” and “Eat your medicine,” are sayings that are making the rounds again as summer approaches. Another concept is laid out in the book “Eat to Live,” written by the Nation of Islam’s Hon. Elijah Muhammad. Diets should be a lifestyle, not a fad, experts say.

In that vein, Harlem’s Muhammad Mosque No. 7 is inviting the community to their Live Health Is Wealth seminar this Saturday April 30, 2016, 3 p.m. (at 106 West 127th St. between Malcolm X and Adam Clayton Powell boulevards).

Organizers say speakers and panelists will host conversations about urban agriculture, hoop housing, growing your own food and how to be an urban farmer. The community will learn about the “right way to eat—a lifestyle change, not a diet,” referencing “How to Eat to Live” as taught by Muhammad.

There will also be a Breast Cancer Awareness conversation with Amsterdam News Editor Nayaba Arinde, who is a breast cancer survivor, founder of Square Circles women’s support group (http://www.squarecircles.org and https://www.facebook.com/squarecircles1/) and host of Back to Basics on AllBlackRadio.com.

At the seminar this weekend participants can observe wonderful cooking demonstrations, and delicious cuisine will be for sale.
