Bronx Council Member Andy King, along with members of the Council’s Black, Latino & Asian Caucus, celebrated African-American Music Appreciation Month with an awards ceremony on the steps of City Hall.
Honorees who received proclamations from the city and the 2018 Power of Influence Award included the president of Urban Music at RCA Records, Mark Pitts, rapper Lil’ Kim, Angela Simmons of TV’s “Growing Up Hip-Hop,” FUBU company, Havoc from Mobb Deep and Harlem Tailor Dapper Dan.
Also joining the festivities were rapper Dave East; retired NBA player Charles Smith; retired WNBA players Teresa Weatherspoon and Kym Hampton; and Karen Huger of “Real Housewives of Potomac.”
