Mourners gathered in Harlem to honor the life and legacy of retired Congressman Charles B. Rangel, who passed away on May 26 at the age of 94.

Rangel lay in repose on Monday and Tuesday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. conducted an Omega Service—a ceremony held in remembrance of deceased members—in his honor. Rangel was initiated into the Alpha Gamma Lambda Chapter of the fraternity in 1964.

He will lie in state at City Hall in Lower Manhattan from Wednesday through Friday morning, giving the public an additional opportunity to pay their respects. An honor guard ceremony is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown Manhattan.
