New Yorkers from all walks of life and all ages lined 5th Avenue on the last Sunday in June to celebrate Pride. Thousands of marchers participated in the annual tradition and this year’s theme: “Rise Up: Pride in Protest.” Black New Yorkers were well represented on both sides of the police barricades and made sure their message of love, acceptance, and freedom could be heard all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in DC.
