Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to BAM for a fourth season (Jun. 4-7) with the revival of “Hymn,” Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison’s tribute to Alvin Ailey first performed more than 15 years ago. “Hymn” features personal recollections from the dancers collected and arranged by actor and playwright Anna Deavere Smith, along with a percussive score by Robert Ruggieri. A special gathering with some members of the original cast is planned for opening night, June 4 (free with rsvp). Also on the program is the company premiere of Medhi Walerski’s “Blink of an Eye,” probing the relationship between dance and music. Rounding out the program is Mr. Ailey’s iconic and audience favorite “Revelations,” “an intimate reflection that explores the emotional spectrum of the human condition, from the deepest of grief to the holiest joy. It has been seen by more people around the world than any other work of modern dance,” notes the release. Find out more at https://www.bam.org/
