Mayor Micheal Bloomberg announced on his weekly radio show his plans to address the city’s increasing unemployment rates.

Bloomberg’s plan addresses the effectiveness of the city’s job placement services to connect residents with new positions.Job placement centers will extend their hours and the city government will hold the centers accountable based on performance questionnaires residents will complete, Bloomberg said.

“In these difficult economic times, government has a responsibility to work even harder for you and ensure that the daily services it provides are as good as they possibly can be,” he said.

Bloomberg also mentioned the results from a recent city-wide questionnaire that more than 25,000 residents completed. The results show many residents highly ranked city services that include public safety and education.
