Darrelle Revis called Terrell Owens a slouch.

Owens responded on a TV show, calling Revis and his cornerback partner Antonio Cromartie “Ren and Stimpy”.

The Jets (9-2) showed which duo was the best as Revis and Cromartie limited Chad Ochocinco and Owens in a 26-10 win over the Bengals (2-9) on Thursday night.

“Ren and Stimpy did a pretty good job tonight,” Cromartie joked in a post game interview.

Cromartie was right on the money with that statement. Four days after nearly falling apart against the Houston Texans, the Jets secondary played one of its best games of the season.

“It was an A+ night,” Cromartie said. “We all communicated to make sure everyone knew where everybody was going to be. That helps out a lot. That makes things a lot easier.”

Ochocinco and Owens caught a combined seven passes for 58 yards and no touchdowns.

Holding Ochocinco and Owens down was more important than most Jets fans know. The only thing driving the Bengals offense has been Ochocinco and Owens. Cedric Benson managed just 41 yards on 18 carries.

That’s a 2.3 yards-per-carry average.Jordan Shipley burned the Jets for a touchdown, but ended up with just five cathces for 38 yards.

It turns out that Ren and Stimpy were more than just a running joke on Thursday.
