ATLANTA– Attorney BJ Bernstein has told WSB-TV in Atlanta that Bishop Eddie long reached a settlement with four men who accused him of sexual abuse.
According to Bernstein, the settlement came after court-orderd mediated sessions. Things came to a head during Easter weekend when both parties, after a marathon of talks, emerged close to a settlement.
Last year, four former members of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church filed lawsuits against Long, his church and the youth academy claiming that he used his power, influence and stature in the community to sexually take advantage of them. Long publicly denied the claims.
While Bernstein told WSB-TV that she and the four men would not talk about the settlement, she did release a statement saying “The matter has been resolved.”
