In an effort to get Central Brooklyn residents back to work State Sen. Kevin Parker hosts his Fourth Annual Job Fair on Friday at the Flatbush YMCA. Over 40 private companies, public sector agencies and non-profits were at the fair with jobs focusing on green industry training.

Attendees participated in several job readiness workshops throughout the day including resume building, interview techniques and training and creating professional representation. Green job training was also provided by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the New York State Apollo Alliance. Parker is partnered with staffing expertise Penda Aiken, Inc. for the event

The senator recently proposed the Workforce Reinvestment Plan with several other legislators in Albany. The 11-piece plan would create approximately 11,000 new jobs throughout the state. Parker sponsored three pieces in the legislation.

“One of my most important responsibilities as a senator is to address the needs of the people of New York. We would be remiss if we ended session without addressing job creation in our state,” said Parker. “We must work towards an affordable New York. The Majority has gone almost an entire session without addressing the issues that New Yorkers truly care about – rent regulation, the rising costs of fuel, unemployment and job creation.”
