Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) sorority’s North Atlantic Region paid tribute to local leaders during a “Salute to Excellence” luncheon held on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The event, which also raised funds for AKA’s Educational Advancement Foundation, celebrated the contributions of Virgil Carman and Men Empowering Nations; Arthur Griffa, an educator from Maplewood, N.J; Isaiah M. Jefferson, co-founder of Circles of Color, LLC; Mary Bentley La Mar, founder of the Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey; Kelly Moss, CEO of Heart of Hannah Women’s Center; Lorenzo Richardson, co-founder of Concerned Citizens Coalition; and Erika Stubbs, a New Jersey educator.
