It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Harlem since the holiday lights along 125th Street were lit last Monday at the Joyous Sounds and Lights event. Holiday cheer was heavy at the Harlem State Office Building Plaza, with music and live performances by Vy Higginsen of “Mama, I Wanna Sing!” Over 20 Harlem churches welcomed the lights with holiday carolers under the direction of George Faison. At 7 p.m., the switch was flipped on the holiday lights that include 36 skyline streamers draped across 125th Street from the East River to the Hudson River. The lights will stay on throughout the holiday season.
