African-Americans discriminated against when filing for bankruptcy, according to new study (37135)

Each year, the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) awards nearly $1 million in undergraduate and graduate scholarships to academically excellent and financially eligible students from New York City public schools. Last year, 250 high school students received $5,000 each toward the cost of their college education.

Students must have high academic standing and demonstrate leadership in school and community. All applicants also must be eligible to receive and must apply for federal financial aid (e.g., a Pell Grant).

The official application and instruction sheet can be downloaded from the UFT website at www.uft.org/scholarship-fund. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 15.
