The man with the plan returns back to Harlem and this time it’s at the legendary Apollo Theater.
President Barack Obama will be at the Apollo Theater on Thursday, Jan. 19 for a fund raising concert. Soul singers Al Green and India.Arie are scheduled to take the stage and tickets range from $200 for general seating to $2,000 for a VIP reception. A limited number of $100 tickets were available but organizers said they are sold out.
“This event is a lot more acceptable for folks who support the president but are not able to write out 30,000 checks” says Brian Benjiman, member of the Obama National Finance Committee
President Obama came to Harlem last March and held a fundraiser at the Red Rooster on Lenox Avenue. There he hosted a $30,800-a-plate event to raise money for the Democratic National Committee.
Tomorrow night will also be a historic one; Obama will be the first sitting U.S President to visit the Apollo, confirmed Benjiman who is also a Harlem Community Organizer.
