Social networking sites are buzzing yet again about another mass “Soul Train line” in memory of the late Don Cornelius. This time organizers are bringing the event uptown.
An announcement on Facebook indicates that 98.7 FM KISS FM and the Superhero DJ’s Good Music Coalition are planning a Soul Train line at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building Plaza at 125th St. and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. on Monday, Feb. 13 starting at 5pm.
The celebration comes just a little more than a week after a flash mob made a Soul Train line in Times Square in honor of Cornelius, famous for creating the long-running Black dance show Soul Train, who died earlier this month.
DJ Jon Quick and Qua from KISS FM are scheduled to provide music for soul revelers and the station is giving away prizes for the best outfits.
Reports indicate that a private cremation ceremony for Cornelius was held on Thursday in Glendale, Calif. Another private memorial service is scheduled for February 16.
