Two-time NBA All-Star and Los Angeles Clippers forward Caron Butler was presented with his 2011 NBA championship ring during a special pregame ceremony when he returned to Dallas earlier this week for the first time since leaving the Mavericks and signing with the Clippers in free agency.
“Getting the championship ring reminds me of what a great experience it was being a part of the Maverick organization,” said Butler, who put up 16 points Saturday in the Clippers’ win over the Charlotte Bobcats. “I am honored that even though I’m no longer a part of the team, they are doing this for me in front of the fans, all of whom were such a great part of my experience in Dallas. I always felt the love and very much appreciate this too.”
Despite the injury he suffered during the Mavericks’ championship-winning season, Butler was still a constant in the huddle, a motivator and an integral part of the Mavericks’ championship run.
“I will always have very fond memories of my time in Dallas,” continued Butler. “Playing with guys like Dirk, Jason Terry and Jason Kidd and being a part of that team in that moment was fantastic-something none of us will ever forget.”
