The Fadmashion team showcased several new lines recently. Their swimwear collections were sleek, colorful and smashing.
A Brooklyn-based online startup company, Fadmashion has four founders: Jason Greene, Yael Hartmann, Anish Aggarwal and Owen Linton. Their most coveted items include the Nyla Noor El Borne Hipster clutch and Oyster NYC’s Marta Maillot swimsuit in a beige-and-black tiger print with a rainbow tie-dye lining that’s reversible. The show was hot!
The retro-inspired, glamorous swimsuit is striped on top and solid black on the bottom, with a tie in the back. “Our swimwear designs are all about combining the femme fatale with the tomboy,” said Bianca, one of Oyster’s designers. She is inspired by nature, culture and even the seemingly mundane.
Bianca has worked in advertising print production for the past five years. She is currently working toward a design degree from FIT. She learned how to sew at an early age and was influenced by her German mother’s attitude and ’60s wardrobe.
Francess, another Oyster designer, was also influenced by a strong woman in her family. She switched career paths to fashion in 2007, when she began working as an intern for Tracy Feith.
Oyster takes pride in using local resources whenever possible. All of their production takes place right here in NYC.
Perfect for a lifestyle that’s on the go, Nyla Noor’s multifaceted handbag can be worn in several different ways. Their genuine leathers are specially tanned using an environmentally friendly method. Their signature handbag piece is 100 percent leather, made entirely in Manhattan.
Nyla Noor was founded and designed by sisters Saifra and Romaana Zia. “We aim to create bags that achieve feminine grace and subtle seduction,” stated the designers.
The company’s beginnings can be traced back to the 1970s, when their father owned his own handbag collection. Although the sisters are five years apart in age and on different career paths, they both have a creative talent. Both worked in finance until one day in 2008 they decided to become designers.
The brand is named after the daughters. Four weeks into launching their collection, Nyla Noor was hailed by Women’s Wear Daily and Elle magazine as designers to watch.
