On July 14, the Baptist House of Prayer on West 126th Street will host their fifth annual Summit of Prayer from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The theme of the event is “Devote Yourselves to Prayer.”
The Rev. Henry Harrison said that the event is a “time for reflection.” This year’s summit will have church elder Margret Gurly as its keynote speaker. Harrison said many members of the community who do service, not just in the church, will be honored at the summit.
The Rev. Grace Ogunwuyi said many other churches have been invited to this event and they are expecting over 100 people to attend. They want to pray for New York City and the nation, Ogunwuyi said, adding that the church wants people in the community to know that the church is there to help them if they need it.
The flyer for the event reads, “And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, ‘Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts: I will go also.’ Zechariah 8:21.”
