It started with one school. Now, schools throughout New York state participate in the annual “Dads Take Your Child to School Day.” The initiative, which encourages fathers and male caregivers and grandfathers to get involved in their children’s lives, is in its sixth year. Planned events at individual schools will take place on Sept. 20.

The annual event is part of Responsible Fatherhood programming and is sponsored by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. Responsible Fatherhood programming is a statewide program operating out of city agencies, faith-based organizations and nonprofit organizations. For more information, call your local school.
