John L. Dingle celebrated his 100th birthday with friends and family on Aug. 8. John was born to Charlotte and Robert Dingle in Charleston, S.C., on Aug. 6, 1912, the oldest of six siblings. His siblings have since passed away, but Dingle was married more than once and was blessed with many children. Some of Dingle’s great accomplishments include being the first Black person employed in the Signal System with the MTA.
Dingle says he doesn’t let anything worry him, eats healthfully and has always had a loving and giving heart.
