The New York Association of Black Journalists is inviting students to apply to learn to shoot and edit video, report, and blog as part of their annual First Take Journalism Workshop. The 8-week Saturday program runs October 6 to December 2 and is hosted by the Journalism Department of Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus.
“We are seeking talented high school students from the New York City area who have a strong interest in pursuing journalism careers,” reads the NYABJ website. “Throughout the eight weeks of training, students will meet guest speakers from respected news organizations. Past speakers have been from NBC, CNN, Essence, ESPN, the New York Daily News and CBS News. Also, on a special Columbus Day field trip, students will visit a live newsroom in Manhattan.”
