Outstanding Christopher Copeland (40022)

Saint Augustine’s University graduate Christopher Copeland was named a regional winner of the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award recently. By winning the honor, Copeland is eligible for the national award, the winner being announced Monday, Oct.22.

The Male and Female Division II Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be chosen from a group of 16 regional winners–eight men and eight women–including Copeland. The national award, sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, provides the opportunity for Division II to highlight the extraordinary achievements of its student-athletes.

Copeland was a track and field standout for the Falcons during his collegiate career. A six-time All-American, Copeland twice won the NCAA Division II indoor high jump title. He was named CIAA Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a Capital One Academic All-America first team selection in 2012. A Suffolk, Va., native, Copeland graduated in May 2012 with a sports management degree and a 3.64 cumulative grade point average.
