President Barack Obama visited New York City Thursday, Nov. 15, to survey the damage left behind after Hurricane Sandy. The president visited New Jersey days after the storm to evaluate the damage already but did not see the damage done to New York firsthand.

New Yorkers are still suffering due to the aftermath of the storm. The city was forced to ration gas after extended lines and fuel shortages added more stress to the city still reeling from the storm. Meanwhile, residents in New York City Housing Authority Buildings in Queens, Brooklyn and parts of Manhattan are still without electricity.

This was to be the president’s first visit to the city after the country re-elected him to serve another four years.
