On view in Paris recently, 22/4’s menswear collection for next fall/winter is influenced by the style and attitude of piano player personalities Chilly Gonzales and Glenn Gould. Both of these musicians are Canadian-born geniuses who have managed to successfully create their own standards.

“Music and fashion are subject to certain universal norms, standards and regulations. In a way, both are based on exact measurements of math,” said 22/4’s creative director Stephanie Hahn. For this purpose, 22/4 is based on the simple mathematics of 2+2=4. Driven by a desire for traditional craft and quality, the design company creates topical modern luxury goods. They have a very specific eye for every single detail.

Just as musicians play and compose within a framework, 22/4 designs its fashions in a framework of logic and efficiency. They work with a deep knowledge of traditional tailoring savoir faire. 22/4 brings a very personal touch and a special intricate construction to modern menswear wardrobes.

Gonzales and Gould have both developed their very own personal style and attitude in the classical music scene. Their taste and sense of style inspired Hahn to combine modern smart formal wear elements. For home and entertaining, they show an elegant quilted and padded scarf that suggests luxurious decor or homewear. All of their pieces in this collection are made of cool high-end cottons, elegant wools and modern high-tech fibers.

The color palette ranges from classic black-and-white combining with elegant dark-blue tones to soft pale-blue shades, light grays and off-whites. There are also rich chestnut browns, burgundy reds and a fiery coral red that’s highlighted by the use of classical menswear paisley prints and designs.
