In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, the African Burial Ground National Monument is hosting a day of events featuring a keynote address by award-winning author and journalist Herb Boyd. The keynote, “The Day Harlem Saved Dr. King’s Life After a Deranged Woman Plunged a Letter Opener in His Chest,” will be followed by a short film. The film on the Voting Rights Movement, “Never Lose Sight of Freedom,” is scheduled for 2 p.m. The keynote will take place at noon.
