According to a TransitChek e-mail alert, as of March 1, 2013, the board of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will implement a fare change for the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and MTA Metro-North Railroad. In addition, MTA New York City Transit subways and buses will have new fares effective on March 3, 2013.

Unlimited rides for 7-day passes will now cost $30, 7-Day Express Bus Plus passes will cost $55, and the 30-Day pass will be $112. TransitChek Metrocards are no longer available at the current fare. Now the prices are as followed: $23.91 (10 trips), $35.71 (15 trips), $47.62 (20 trips), and $54.76 (23 trips).

New Jersey Transit and PATH fares will not be affected. New TransitChek MetroCards will be usable starting March 3rd at 12:01am. Current Pay-Per-Ride TransitChek MetroCards 7-Day and 7-Day Express Bus passes will be valid until March 17th, 2013. Current 30-Day Unlimited passes will be valid until April 9th, 2013.

Lastly, the MTA New York City Transit will also implement a $1.00 transit operator fee to purchase a new MetroCard directly from the MTA either at a subway ticket booth or ticket vending machine. This fee does not apply to the TransitChek MetroCard. Cards must be swiped by March 11th to get the full value.
