This weekend, the Monroe College Mustangs will send 22 members of their women and men’s track and field teams to the nationals in Texas. The teams will compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The contingent of athletes from Monroe College will be one of the largest groups competing at the national event.
It is interesting to note that members of the school’s track and field team come from various parts of the city and nation. The scholar-athletes who call Monroe College their second home come from areas such as Florida, Washington, D.C., and internationally, Senegal, Columbia and Lithuania.
This weekend, the Mustangs are fired up to bring home trophies and awards from their respective sports. For some, it will be their first trip to the national tournament. Hopefully, it will not be their last.
