The Association of Dominican Classical Artists will honor Dominican composer, percussionist, and educator Dante Cucurullo in a tribute concert celebrating his extraordinary contributions to the development of contemporary Dominican music. The concert, which is co-sponsored by the Office of the President of The City College of New York and City Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, will take place Thursday, May 24, 2013 at 7:00 pm at the City College of New York’s Aaron Davis Hall. Maestro Cucurullo will perform a selection of his original compositions and will be joined by guest artist Professor Maria Irene Blanco, pianist and current director of the National Conservatory of the Dominican Republic. Both artists will travel from the Dominican Republic for this concert, marking their New York City debut performance. The concert is the final of the season for the Association’s annual concert series celebrating Dominican artists and composers.
