A 6 year-old girl was attacked by a pit bull in the Bronx Sunday morning. The girl, whose name has not been released, was walking with her grandmother at 166 street and Webster Avenue.

In a video uploaded to YouTube, the dog running across the street straight towards the little girl can be seen. The dog proceeded to attack the girl and fling her around the sidewalk in its vicious attack. The grandmother, who was most certainly in a state of shock, can be seen trying to help her granddaughter to no avail.

Passersbys including Eduard Candelier, who works at a nearby tire shop ran to the girl’s aid when they noticed the attack. “The dog was biting her,” Candelier told NBC New York. “The girl was crying. She was going crazy.”

Tire shop owner, Fred Paulino realized the attack was caught on tape when he checked his security video Monday morning. He told NBC New York that “you can see the dog walking around with the girl in her mouth.”

Ambulance arrived and took the girl to the hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries, which included small puncture wounds to her right arm and leg. She was then released.

Police said the dog owner was issued a summons for having a dog off the leash.
