Starting on April 30th, tickets will go on sale for James Brown: Get On The Good Foot – A Celebration in Dance at the Apollo Theater which will take place on October 22, 2013.
The evening-long dance performance developed by six-choreographers from around the world will showcase the “stylistic and cultural influences the “Godfather of Soul” continues to have on artists and creativity. One chreographer, Otis Sallid, Get on the Good Foot, will pay tribute to Brown though “original dance numbers and a musical score comprised of classical music by the soul icon and new works by musicians influenced by Brown.”
Dancers from the Philadelphia Dance Company (PHILADANCO) will bring to life new choreography by Souleymane Badolo (Burkina Faso), Ronald K. Brown (United States), Thang Dao (Vietnam), Derick K. Grant (United States), Abdel Saalam (United States) and Aakash Odedra (United Kingdom).

Jacqueline Lyne, a former executive director of PASA and the Apollo’s current Lafayette Project Coordinator stated “It’s a perfect fit with Louisiana’s Live Entertainment Initiative, with the unique entrepreneurial character of Lafayette, and with the cultural resources in our community.”
