In celebration of Malcolm X’s birthday on May 19, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture is holding a discussion on the 1960 meeting with Malcolm X and Fidel Castro in the Hotel Theresa. Author Rosemari Mealy will lead the discussion, titled “Memories of a Meeting: Fidel and Malcolm X.” The discussion will be held in the Langston Hughes Auditorium. The event is free, but registration is required at www.schomburgcenter.eventbrite.com.

Mealy, author of “Fidel and Malcolm: Memories of a Meeting,” will also have a book signing. The Malcolm X Museum’s annual celebration of the birthday of Malcolm X is presenting the event from 3-6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
