Whether you’re going to a ball or for a cocktail sip or afternoon tea, you will always appear fly yet sophisticated in one of b Michael’s fashionable looks. Right from the start, his show at the Lincoln Center for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week had the audience stunned. From the looks of this fine collection, you know that he was fated to be a fashion designer. Growing up in Durham, Conn., he found early inspirations from his mother, whose family’s “roots in America” extends back four generations. Her keen sense of style and creativity with clothes, and just the way she lived, was passed on to him. Like his eclectic family tree, b Michael’s designs incorporate the fantastic with an understated cool. He works sensational colors with elegance and emotion with design. This designer genius delivers an exceptional collection each season. For fall 2013, his styles are opulent!

In particular, b Michael heightens his couture aesthetic by infusing emotions such as joy and adding a festive mood to his creations. “It is a modern approach to glamour,” explained the designer, describing his signature style. “It is also about achieving a very sophisticated yet simplistic look. A woman who wears b Michael knows how to wear a basic dress and make it look glamorous.” His collection has garnered an appreciative following that includes socialites and celebrities such as Cicely Tyson, Tamara Tunic, Susan Fales-Hill, Alicia Bythewood, Amy Fine Collins, Nancy Wilson, Beyonce Knowles, Victoria Rockwell, Colleen Atwood, Pearl Nipon, Lena Horne, Lynn Whitfield, Angela Bassett and Myrna-Colley-Lee. b Michael’s designs have also been featured editorially on Halle Barry and Cate Blanchett. Sisters Venus and Serena Williams were spotted in the front row of his runway shows wearing his clothes. However, b Michael is not just a nine-to-five-o’clock designer. He’s a consummate entertainer and an avid collector of vintage books, artifacts and photography, which are displayed throughout his home. b Michael is also actively involved with Autism Speaks, Dream Yard Project and the Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut and a former account executive for a Wall Street firm, b Michael decided to pursue his fashion career and launched a millinery line after designing for Oscar de la Renta and Louis Feraud. His collections have been shown in Beijing, China, Korea and Shanghai.
