Police announced Thursday night that they have identified a man who they believe to be responsible for killing a Queens’ bus passenger, 14-year-old D’aja Robinson, on May 18.
Kevin McClinton, 21, is accused of firing off nine rounds into the side of a Q6 bus near Sutphin Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard in South Jamaica. Robinson, who was coming from a Sweet 16 birthday party and on her way to another friend’s birthday party, was struck in the head. She was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital that same night.
Investigators believe that the gunman was aiming for another teenage girl when he shot Robinson.
Thousands attended Robinson’s funeral last week, and Queens-native rapper 50 Cent showed his condolences by donating a white horse and carriage for the proceedings, which was confirmed on his Twitter page.
That same day, authorities questioned a 16-year-old potential suspect but found him unrelated to Robinson’s murder and later released him. Police now have McClinton in custody in a small town near Columbia, S.C.
