Reporter John Noel has died at 62-years-old after loosing his battle against brain cancer.
On Friday WNBC reporters said, “two years ago, John had been diagnosed with a serious illness but continued to come to work until recently.” They went on to express their respect and sadness over loosing a longtime friend and collogue.
Noel graduated from Brooklyn College summa cum laude and went on to receive his master degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
After college Noel joined the Air Force for four years where he was stationed at the Armed Forces Radio and Television program and announcer.
Noel worked with WJBK-TV in Detroit for five years before he began working for NBC New York.
Noel was being treated at Calvary hospital at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn. He was first hospitalized with the disease last year and while being treated he received regular visits from family and WNBC co-workers, including NBC anchor David Ushery.
Noel leaves behinds two daughters his ex-wife and his parents.
