Nautica’s menswear fall 2013 collection works for today’s men’s wardrobe. It has managed to grow with its clients. The looks are casual, classic and refined. The company began as a collection of outerwear some 30 years ago and has become a global brand for men’s, women’s and kid’s apparel and accessories. Founder David Chu started the company in 1983 and created six styles of outerwear that fused fashion and function.

Chris Cox is now vice president of Design and Creative for Nautica brands. In his early career experience, Cox was head designer of men’s woven products at Graj and Gustavsen’s Array project and a designer at Banana Republic. He joined the company in 2008. His fall designs for Nautica’s collection were well-received.

For fall, men’s pants fit slimmer to the body. Heavy-duty outerwear, dress coats and jackets in three-quarter lengths are cut loose and seem puffier. Some jackets have furry collars. Coat linings offer contrast colors and patterns. Ties are thin. Hoods continue to reign on coats, jackets and sweaters.

The name Nautica stems from “Nauticus,” the Latin word for “ship,” which is now the brand’s logo. Today, Nautica represents both a rediscovery and a reinterpretation of what Americans have always wanted to wear. With open jackets and a street-savvy swagger, male models strut down the runway in the company’s sharp sportswear and receive applause at the show. Nautica is available in 50 countries, with over 175 stores nationwide. Its clothes are for the man who leads an active and energetic life.

Inspired by water, Nautica became the largest corporate sponsor of Oceana, a global ocean conservation organization. It vowed to support Oceana’s mission to protect the ocean. In 2012, Nautica launched its Give Change to Make Change campaign with charity: water, a non profit organization that contributes 100 percent of public donations to fund clean water projects in developing nations. It’s the foundation and inspiration of the brand. Nautica is also the title sponsor of several triathlons, including the Nautica Malibu Triathlon and the Nautica South Beach Triathlon.

Good Show!
