Relatives, friends of gun violence victims stage 'Not in My Hood' march (36823)

On Saturday, June 8, Council Member Jumaane D. Williams, co-chair of the City Council’s Task Force to Combat Gun Violence, was joined by relatives and friends of gun violence victims, as well as elected officials, clergy members and community leaders for his “Not in My Hood” march in response to the senseless acts of gun violence in the 45th District and across New York City.

The march kicked off at Glenwood Playground and proceeded north on Ralph Avenue through the busy streets of East Flatbush. It was immediately followed by a health and resource fair at Flatbush Gardens to direct young people toward positive alternatives to violent behavior.

After a brief press conference at Glenwood Playground, the names of all local victims of gun violence in the past year were read.
