When editors look at fashions on the runway, they look at hair, makeup, colors, hemlines, shoes, fabrics and the way the clothes are styled. In Paris, the focus of the hair for Yiqing Yin’s collection for Les Rives De Lunacy was the bun on the back of the head.
The product used for this particular hairstyle was Moroccanoil. It offers innovative, easy-to-use, performance-driven formulas that dramatically transform all hair types. The result is beautiful, healthy, natural-looking hair.
For Yin’s fall 2013 fashion show, the designer’s inspiration comes from a dream, along with earthly visions like floating clouds and streams of light. His collection flows elegantly up and down the runway. It was lovely to look at, sort of like an aquatic ballet. Ice-like colors were influenced by the moonlit night.
Back stage was chaotic, but it gives you an interesting view of how a show comes together. Hairstyles were created by Delphine Courteille. The look was inspired by the French cult movie “La Piscine” (“The Swimming Pool”), realized by Jacques Deray in 1969, and lead actress Romy Schneider to create a fresh, clean, low bun.
Here’s how the look was created: First, she prepared the hair with Morcoccanoil Treatment ($43) to improve the condition of the hair and add a natural shine. She then used a Moroccanoil XLPRO Paddle Brush ($25.20) to blow dry the hair straight. After drying the hair, she used Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream ($33.40). It gives hair a sleek, smooth texture with a soft, natural-looking hold.
Next, she tied her hair at the neck with Japanese elastic using Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium ($22.20). It sets and holds the ponytail in place while retaining natural movement. She then separated the ponytail into two equal sections and wrapped one of the locks on itself and twisted it around the elastic. Courteille secured the hair with pins and did the same thing with the second section. The result is a very clean, round bun. The look is also inspired by a shape of a shell. For a sleek, brilliant shine, she sprayed each model’s hair with Moroccanol Glimmer Shine Spray ($27.20).
