New York’s unemployment level is the lowest since February 2009, according to the latest numbers from the New York Department of Labor. In July 2013, the New York unemployment rate was 7.5 percent. The number of unemployed people living in New York dropped from 720,800 in June to 717,700 in July.

The Department of Labor also reported that the state added 323,700 jobs in the private sector since Andrew Cuomo became governor. The unemployment rate in New York City is 8.4 percent.
