As a part of its annual New Renaissance weekend event, which commemorates the heroes of 9/11 and the celebratory beginning of the 2013-2014 New York City Department of Education academic calendar, the Fun*damenTOOLS Foundation is teaming up with the NBA and the Department of Parks and Recreation to host its annual everything-free day of celebration for youth and families of metropolitan New York. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Nicholas Park Terrace (between West 128th and West 130th streets).

The day will consist of health screenings, a marquee three-on-three youth basketball tournament, the “Global Homage 2 Hip Hop” dance competition, a kids art competition, live performances and surprise celebrity guest appearances. TOOL Shed Academy will set up a NBA player-orchestrated fitness and basketball skill interactive lounge where young people will have the opportunity to experience the unique, fun and informative instruction created by the organization for adults and kids of all ages.
