The seventh annual African Day Parade is being held on Sept. 22. “Our Communities. Our progress. Our Unity” will honor the accomplishments of people in the African Diaspora. This year’s march coincides with the African Union’s 50th anniversary. The African Day Parade will honor former South African President Nelson Mandela and other African leaders. A press conference on the parade was held on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m.

The 44th African-American Day Parade will be held Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. in Harlem at 111th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard to136th Street. Grand marshals for the parade include the Rev. Al Sharpton, David Dinkins, Lillian Roberts and others.
