Lifeforce in Later Years (LILY) celebrated senior citizens on Oct. 1 for Love an Elder Day. Love an Elder Day encourages people to reach out to seniors in their family and community and visit senior centers or call older loved ones. In 2012, LILY received a New York state proclamation recognizing Love an Elder Day from Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell.
Bus shelters and telephone booths between 66th and 127th streets in Manhattan featured ads promoting Love an Elder Day. The organization has also released a public service announcement that advocates the celebration of elders on Love an Elder day and every day with simple acts of kindness. LILY is a nonprofit that advocates for the needs of the elder population.
