This is a milestone year in the existence of St. Charles Borromeo Church and Chapel of Resurrection, both of which were founded 125 years ago in Harlem. In the coming months, the church will be celebrating its anniversary with a myriad of events and activities to commemorate this very special occasion.

Saturday, June 29 marked the start of the anniversary activities, as the church community traveled to Holiday Hills in Prospect, Conn., for a Family Day outing. The day proved to be an opportunity for fellowship and immersion in the rich legacy of the church as a number of religious men and women of the church community traveled alongside parishioners for a well-rounded, prayer-filled and fun experience for all.

Following Family Day, the anniversary celebration took to the high seas on Sunday, Sept. 29 for an afternoon sail around Manhattan that included lunch and dancing.

On Nov. 3, St. Charles Borromeo will welcome Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who will preside over the 9:30 a.m. mass. There will also be a reception following the mass for all parishioners who care to attend.

The period of remembrance will commence with a New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31. There will also be days and mass celebrations dedicated to various sectors of the parish community.

The last exciting events left on the calendar are the Men’s Day Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 13 and the St. Charles School Alumni Day on Sunday, Dec. 15.
