Brandon Sun’s spring ’14 collection is sharply styled yet very sophisticated. His clean lines are straight. His colors, with the exception of his outstanding orange, are conservative and neutral. The pieces were delightful in his New York presentation, which drew a tremendous audience. The look is soft, feminine and stylish.

Important highlights of this show include collarless jackets and straight yet somewhat tapered skirts with shorter lengths in front and slightly longer lengths in back. The color orange was inserted throughout the collection.

Sun began his career right after his graduation from Parsons School of Design. He was honored as Parsons’ Designer of the Year and received the Parsons Gold Thimble Award. He worked his way up in the industry with stints at J. Mendel and Oscar de la Renta, they are two of the most distinguished American luxury brands.

Within five years at J. Mendel, Sun rose from design assistant to designer while working very closely with Gilles Mendel. The experience helped him hone his technique in couture, tailoring, ready-to-wear outfits and fur. During his time working at Oscar de la Renta, he gained a modern design edge.

During 2010 and 2011, he collaborated with American Legend for the re-launch of Blackglama, which featured Janet Jackson in its “What Becomes a Legend Most?“ campaign. It wasn’t until 2011 that Sun began to carve his own world by launching his signature collection of luxury fur accessories. For spring 2014, he continues to introduce his vision with an insouciant sense of style.

His clothes are sold at such retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Boon the Shop and Hirshleifers.
